Okay, okay - this isn't a story about how I grew up with a love and passion for food and cooking, nor was it passed done from my mom (lol she hates cooking) or my family's cooking. In fact, my boyfriend of 8 years would tell you that I couldn't cook a thing until about 2019.
So I know you're wondering - what changed? Well, 2017 was my first year staying in on-campus apartment at Michigan State University. It was my first time living semi on my own, having to do my own grocery shopping, and making 100% of my meals. I learned to the basic to prepare myself, but trust me when I say that these meals were nothing special. I pretty much ate some variation of the same breakfast, lunch, and dinner every night.

HELLO! I'M BRIANNA,
& WELCOME TO FOOD
FOR GOODNESS SAKE
FOLLOW #POISE

Fast forward going back to MSU after summer break in 2018, I have to admit I got a little bit better at the whole cooking and baking thing. I was trying new things and making a larger variety of meals. This was when I started following other foodie accounts on Instagram and seeing all of recipes and food photography that they create. I was inspired to do the same with the recipes that I was making, so I did. At this time I was nannying a few times a week, and I would actually make different kinds of oats or other simple recipes while the kids were sleeping because their house had better lighting than my apartment HAHA - WHAT?! And if I was at home in my apartment, I would take the tiles I bought from Home Depot that I used (and actually still use today) for food photography out on the patio to get the best lighting.

I was filling up my phone with all of these food photos, and I was doing nothing with them. I was nervous to create my own page to start posting them, and it was about 6 months later in April of 2019 I FINALLY had to courage to. And now -

FOOD FOR GOODNESS HAS GROWN INTO SOMETHING SO MUCH MORE THAN I EVER IMAGINED.
It took a lot to stick with it through the up and downs, the beginning stages, the algorithm and platform changes (um... I hated and resisted Instagram reels FOR MONTHS when they first came out).

And I am so glad that I did. Just over 3 years later, here I am designing and creating this food & lifestyle blog just hoping to make this my full-time career. You being here on this blog or follow my social media accounts gets me one step closer, so thank you! You are seen and appreciated greatly.
